Mobile number verification

Make sure the number they gave really belongs to them.

🔑 How it works

When turned on, the user must enter their number before submitting and type in the code sent by SMS.

Without successful verification the response isn't submitted, and the verified number is stored with the response. This is the most reliable way to get "one response per person".

⚙️ Turning it on

  1. 1 Add a "Mobile number" field to the form The code is sent to that number and checked against that field's answer; without this field the switch can't be turned on.
  2. 2 Open the form → "Settings" tab → turn on the "Verify mobile number with an SMS code" card
  3. 3 If you have several mobile fields, choose which one is verified "One response per number" is on by default; turn it off if you don't need it.
  4. 4 Click "Republish" It doesn't apply to the form link until you publish.

⏱️ Code rules

The code has 6 digits and is valid for 2 minutes; it can be resent after 60 seconds. After 5 wrong codes that number is locked for 15 minutes, and each number gets at most 5 codes per hour.

This card isn't used for exams; set exam entry in the exam's own "Look & entry" (see the guide "Exam on your own site, with entry for authorized people only").
Even on an anonymous form the verified number is stored with the response, so responses are no longer anonymous.
When sales are on, publishing a form with SMS verification needs a plan with SMS (from "Business" or "School" up); designing and turning on the switch are always free.
This feature requires an SMS gateway to be configured in the system settings; otherwise nothing is sent.
