This template belongs to the “Minimal” design and is most useful for these jobs and situations:

  • Accounting and finance specialist
  • Engineer (civil, mechanical, electrical, industrial)
  • Administrative and HR specialist
  • Sales and trade specialist
  • Applying through job boards
  • Internships and first jobs

This template has a linear structure that applicant tracking systems read correctly, so it suits both job boards and direct applications.

About the Minimal · Navy design

The Minimal design uses hairlines, generous spacing and a subtle accent color. No columns, tables or icons break up the text; headings are small and orderly, and sections run top to bottom in order of importance. The result is a resume where an employer finds your career path and main skills within the first few seconds.

Because the text is linear, the resume-screening software used by many large companies and job boards extracts your job title, dates and skills correctly. If you’re not sure which template suits a job ad, Minimal is the safest choice: it looks formal, isn’t too plain and stays clean in black-and-white print.

The “Navy” palette is based on blue, a color that conveys trust, order and stability and is the safest choice in most industries — from banking and insurance to technology.

A photo is optional in this template; if you leave it out, the header is laid out without an empty space.

  • Professional summary: Three or four sentences about your specialty, years of experience and most important achievement.
  • Work experience: Title, organization, city, start and end dates and up to 12 achievement bullets per job.

  • Skills: With levels from one to five and groups (for example software, programming languages, soft skills).

Tips for filling in this template

  • Order sections by importance for that particular job ad; you rearrange them by dragging in the appearance settings.
  • In a single-column template, keep each experience bullet to one line starting with an action verb: “launched”, “reduced”.
  • Write your job title in exactly the words of the job ad so the screening system can find it.
  • If you have more than ten years of experience, summarize older jobs in one line so the resume doesn’t exceed two pages.
